Professional Work
As a Graphic Designer within James Madison University’s Student Affairs Communications and Marketing (SACM) department, I have had the opportunity to gain real-world experience communicating with other JMU departments as clients. I was tasked with taking a project request, fabricating a design that the client approved of, and making sure they received their final deliverables in their preferred methods (i.e., print or digital). While some projects allowed creative freedom with their designs, others required me to follow JMU’s brand guide. The main objective for every project I made was to make sure every design I made was accessible to anyone who came across it, as well as making sure it was aesthetically pleasing.
Each design I created was spread throughout campus, being seen by a population consisting of over 20 thousand JMU students, faculty, and staff.
LGBTQ+ History Month
The Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity & Expression (SOGIE) department annually holds events throughout October. In 2024, I was tasked with bringing their vision to life by creating a bold visual identity that was similar to their 2023 graphic. The final deliverables I created for them were 11x17” flyers, a 1920x1080px digital slide, and an Instagram carousel.
Well Dukes Coaching
The Well Dukes department is a new department within JMU’s University Health Center that was trying to find its voice in 2024. I was tasked with creating a card that could be given out to students to encourage them to reach out to this department whenever necessary. I created a quarter sheet card as well as a digital slide that made this department feel welcoming and approachable.
The digital slide has less text to make sure anyone can read it before the slideshow changes to a different screen.
October ‘24 Potty Mouth
Every month, the SACM department creates a one-stop shop for the biggest news happening on campus. This newsletter-type document is named “Potty Mouth” because it is posted on the hook inside almost every bathroom on campus. This gives students who may not know what’s happening on campus a source where they can get any information they may be curious about.
I had the privilege to create the Potty Mouth for October 2024. When creating a Potty Mouth, we are given full creative freedom for theme, imagery, and colors. I loved being able to have fun creating this and having it displayed throughout campus.
