Magazine Feature Article
BEFORE - Created in 2023
This magazine feature article was my first introduction into typography, digital illustratuion, and visual heiarchy. The goal was to choose an animal to make a company about and then create a feature article spread that would be in a nature magazine such as National Geographic or Ranger Rick.
PEKIN DUCK
For my animal, I decided to choose the Pekin Duck, which is a very popular species, known very well for its cuteness. Once I figured out which animal I was going to base my project around, I had to make a logo.
My logo started with a line drawing I made with a piece of paper and a sharpie of a pekin duck. I scanned my drawing onto a computer and vectorized it by using Adobe Illustrator to draw over my sketch. The next step was to figure out a name for my company.
After trial and error, I decided to go with a more playful approach and name my company “Quack Addict“.
Once I had solidified my company, I found a photo of a pekin to use as a reference for the title art. The information within the article was sourced from various websites across Google.
My main focus when creating this feature article design was focusing on the typographical heiarchy and learning how to balance a lot of informational text with some playful graphics to keep the reader entertained.
